For years paraffin wax was used in candles. It originates from residues of oil, which is an unsustainable fossil fuel that will someday run out. As we are becoming more and more aware of the damage our way of life is impacting the earth, people are choosing the more environmentally friendly and sustainable option.
Since the 1900’s paraffin has been mixed with stearin, which comes from the oils in animal fat, which gave it a better and cleaner burn.
In recent years a more environmentally friendly approach has been taken in the manufacture of products and the use of soy beans has proved to be a more sustainable material used in the making of candles as it can be regrown and does not exhaust the resources involved when carefully managed.
So why soy wax ? Soy wax also gives a cleaner burn than that of the previous paraffin/stearin mix. You will notice that a soy wax candle produces no smoke whereas paraffin candles will leave a black residue when burnt. In studies soy has shown huge health benefits in comparison and is now the choice of the more health conscious and environmentally friendly among us.
Some manufactures still use paraffin as their main source of wax but these will always be the cheaper option. As a candle user, if you care about the air that you breath in your home and your over all health because of it, the obvious choice will always be soy wax. Because soy wax produces no smoke, it makes it suitable for asthmatics so they can enjoy a candle lit evening in too.
Because we care about the environment and our planets future, our promise to you is that we will never sell you a candle that uses paraffin wax. Our candle use no GMO’s, no pesticides and lead free wicks along side being 100% soy wax.
